Environmental Health & Safety Specialist needed in San Jose immediately!

A leading chemical supplier, serving industrial sectors and water treatment, seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist for their San Jose, California team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of our facility in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, with a focus on OSHA and DOT requirements. This is a FT, permanent job - sitting onsite at the San Jose facility (this is not a remote job).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and CalARP regulations.

  • Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to identify and mitigate hazards.

  • Provide safety guidance and training to employees.

  • Collaborate with teams to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.

  • Manage safety records and regulatory documentation.

  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend preventive measures.

  • Stay updated on EHS regulations and best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related field.

Minimum 3 years of EHS management experience, ideally in chemical manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, Cal/OSHA, and CalARP regulations.

This position requires a strong working knowledge of USEPA, USDOL-OSHA, USDOT-FMCSA, PHMSA, including state and local jurisdictions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.

Professional certifications like CSP or CIH preferred.

Familiarity with ISO 14001 and environmental management systems desired.

Ability to report daily to the San Jose facility and travel occasionally to other sites.

Additional Notes: Must be willing to travel to Salt Lake City monthly. Proactive approach to duties and adherence to workplace safety guidelines required.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation ranging from $78k to $95k

Pay Details: $75,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
