Pay Rate: $43.27 - $48.08/hour

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (Potential for conversion after 6 months)

Shift: 1st or 2nd Shift (2nd Shift Preferred)

About the Role:

Kelly Engineering is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineer to join our client's team in San Jose, CA. This is a contract-to-hire position with the opportunity for permanent placement after six months. The Process Engineer will focus on developing and optimizing PCBA manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality electronic product production. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes, including solder paste application, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, and inspection.

  • Evaluate and select equipment and tools, optimizing settings for productivity and quality while collaborating with vendors to implement new technologies.

  • Implement process control methodologies, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Design and conduct tests, inspections, and audits to identify and resolve defects while collaborating on corrective and preventive actions.

  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and productivity gains.

  • Troubleshoot PCBA process issues, including equipment malfunctions and process variations, and implement corrective actions.

  • Provide training and technical support to production teams, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless process integration into product development.

  • Adhere to electrostatic discharge (ESD) protocols and safety regulations in all PCBA processes.

Must-Haves:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with reflow oven processes, selective soldering, SMT processes, wave soldering, and hand soldering.

  • Familiarity with J-STD-001

  • Familiarity with selective soldering processes on Nordson Select platforms and pick-and-place machines (experience with Hanwha or Fuji platforms preferred).

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as this is a customer-facing role.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder due to ITAR requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (preferred but not required).

  • Zero-defect mentality and commitment to high-reliability markets.

  • Depth of knowledge to support manufacturing lines and customer needs effectively.
