Summary

The Sr. Staff, Engineering Program/Project Management is responsible for leading a quick turn prototype build service business. They will manage the overall execution of the business, and be the primary customer interface. The service will be delivered to customers with an increased need for engineering and supply chain flexibility and support in order to be successful through the product development process. Based out of Celestica’s Silicon Valley Office, the role will report to the Commercialization Services leader and leverage a vendor partner for large portions of the service execution. It is expected the role will require frequent onsite presence at the vendor partner to ensure quick response to opportunities, issues, changes and decisions. Transition support for programs launching from prototype into pilot builds and mass production will be part of the role. This leader will interface to engineering and supply chain team members inside the deeper organization, to help bring in the right support when needed. The successful candidate enjoys working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where turn-around time is critical.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following

  • Manage multiple high visibility programs (multiple projects per program) of high complexity (technology, organizationally) and/or business impact.

  • Lead interface for cross-functional, global core team(s), kicks off programs, establishes schedules and drives meetings.

  • Communicates with and influences segment/LOB business leaders.

  • Grow service business by identifying development opportunities and coaching program core team members.

  • Present and communicate status to the business leaders and customers. Review and interpret customer specifications and provides customer feedback

  • Direct end-customer interaction and coordination for mass production site deployment.

  • Implement change as directed in the product lifecycle process and through general process improvement.

  • Plan the overall quick-turn product build service business and monitor the progress of multiple customer programs.

  • Drive the creation, review, approval and update of the Program Plan/WBS.

  • Work with the extended team to drive towards meeting or exceeding program objectives (Delivery, Quality, Cost)

  • Help define and implement program governance (controls)

  • Plan and forecast the business, including quoting, cost/labor & expense planning and revenue recognition

  • Manage risks and issues and take appropriate corrective actions

  • Align the deliverables (outputs) to the program’s target outcome with the aid of the business unit manager

  • Manage the main program meeting and documentation flow, such as RFQ response, Project kickoff, Clear to Build approval, First Article documentation, Quality reports, etc.

  • Accountable for quick-turn prototype service objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators.

Technical Understanding: While not necessarily needing to be a deep expert, the candidate should have a good grasp of test and assembly processes and standards. This understanding helps in communicating effectively with technical teams and understanding project requirements.

Project Management: Strong project management skills are essential to coordinate various aspects of the service activity including quoting, manufacturing, reporting, and transition to mass production. Understanding scope definition, resource allocation, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

Domain Knowledge: Products from various market segments may be supported. Having domain-specific knowledge can be crucial to understanding the context and specific challenges within the industry. It is expected prototypes may be built for any of the market segments Celestica’s ATS division serves (Industrial, Smart Energy, Aerospace & Defense, Healthtech).

Communication Skills: Effective communication is key to aligning diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, business leaders, clients, and end-users. Program managers need to translate technical jargon into understandable language for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa. It is imperative that you are able to effectively and concisely communicate program updates, issues and schedule and financial impacts to the leadership team.

Strategic Thinking: Programs often have long-term implications and our Program managers play a critical role in thinking strategically, considering the broader organizational goals and how our programs fit into them. This involves planning for scalability, sustainability, and identifying other supply chain and engineering service opportunities to support our end customers..

Risk Management: Quick-turn prototype builds are fast moving, dynamic with complex interdependencies that are prone to risk. Program managers need to work with various stakeholders to identify and mitigate these risks proactively to ensure project success.

Leadership: Providing project and customer interface leadership for other multi-disciplinary team members comprising engineers, domain experts, supply-chain and technology partners. Program managers should inspire and motivate team members, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts effectively.

Financial Acumen: Understanding budgeting, resource allocation, and financial implications of projects is crucial for program managers to ensure projects are delivered within budget and provide a positive return on investment.

Salary Range

The salary range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including by not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate. Salary Range: $137k-$190k Annually

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.

  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using acalculator, etc.) are frequently required.

  • Frequent travel to a local vendor partner is required.

  • Occasional travel may be required to other Celestica or Customer facilities globally.

Typical Experience

  • 11 to 14 years.

Typical Education

Engineering Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
