Amazon Risk Manager - Brand Incident Proactive Protection, Escalation Management and Prevention in San Jose, Costa Rica

To continue building customer trust the Selling Partner Brand Incident Proactive Protection (BIPP) team works with sellers, brands, vendors and customers to identify and mitigate infringement of intellectual property (e. g. copyright, trademark, counterfeit) and other abuse in our product catalog.

We are looking for an experienced Program/Risk Manager to investigate complex incidents of suspected infringement of intellectual property and other product abuse. You will work closely with external partners such as brands and sellers and implement policies, tools and technology innovations to protect customers, to defend intellectual property, to protect brands, and to ensure compliance with Amazon policies.

You will partner with numerous teams at Amazon including Brand Registry, Product Safety, Perfect Order Experience, Selling Partner Performance, Retail and Seller Services. You will interact with Amazon leadership on complex investigations and you will improve the way Amazon protects customers from product abuse.

The ideal candidate possesses strong business judgment, analytical thinking, is comfortable managing multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment and has demonstrated experience in developing and implementing brand protection strategies. Exceptional communication, solution-oriented and relationship-building are essential attributes to succeed in this role.

Key job responsibilities

The Risk Manager will be tasked to:

• Utilize and help improve existing investigative strategies and solutions to prevent and mitigate risk.

• Work closely across Amazon teams to identify any gaps in policies, processes and tools related to intellectual property protection.

• Contribute to the development of scalable models and tools that speed up both decision making and accuracy for the organization.

• Closely monitor media and global events to anticipate and mitigate potential risks.

• Be comfortable using data to analyze trends, predict and fix problems before they happen.

• Develop and maintain key relationships with external stakeholders including global brands, government agencies and associations on product integrity issues.

• Take leading role if necessary in drafting and presenting deep-dive documents, including responses to senior executives.

• Participate in conferences and external meetings focused on intellectual property protection.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent

  • Experience handling confidential information

  • Experience with research and investigation skills or equivalent

  • Experience establishing successful partnerships with internal and external teams to execute tactical initiatives or equivalent

  • Experience in program or project management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Experience with SQL and Excel

  • Experience in program requirements definition, together with data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements

  • Experience working with machine learning models and data science teams
