Cummins Inc. Field Service Power Generation Technician in San Leandro, California

DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on Generator or component at the customer site with minimal direction.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (San Leandro, CA).

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain detailed records of service

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.

  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.

  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

(Entry):

  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.

  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.

  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to drive a DOT vehicle, subject to DOT regulations, non CDL.

Perform planned maintenance, load banking, service and diagnose repairs on Cummins Generators and other products.

Installation and commissioning of new generators.

Must be available to travel for training.

DOT

  • A current valid license is required for this role

  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical

  • 3 years driving experience

  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Current relevant electrical certification

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Minimal level of workshop related experience required.

Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products

High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience
