Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe maintenance, service, and repair of the machinery and equipment located in the Plant. This role involves performing specific duties regularly at set times, as well as additional duties as assigned. The Maintenance Mechanic must record activities and observations regarding the condition of machinery and equipment in appropriate records. Additionally, this position assists Operators with equipment issues and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory codes and standards. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for recommending, implementing, and managing safety, quality, and food safety on all product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, service, and repair of plant machinery and equipment.

  • Record activities and observations regarding equipment conditions.

  • Assist Operators with equipment issues.

  • Recommend, implement, and manage safety, quality, and food safety measures.

  • Follow and read SOPs, and understand work order systems.

  • Troubleshoot basic manufacturing equipment.

  • Conduct 5S audits and fix issues at the root cause.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude with a safety-first mentality.

  • Self-starter with a 'Can Do Attitude' and team player mindset.

  • Ability to take direction and ownership of tasks.

  • OSHA 10-hour general industry certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Understanding and following oral and written instructions.

  • Basic knowledge of work order systems and SOPs.

  • Experience with industrial maintenance, ideally in food and beverage manufacturing.

Work Environment

This position is within a chocolate manufacturing company, operating in a GMP environment. The facility processes chocolate from roasting beans to packaging, creating a pleasant chocolate aroma throughout. The role involves working in various physical conditions, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and working in confined spaces or high places. It requires near visual acuity and the ability to handle different textures and temperatures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of San Leandro, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $79684.80 - $89440.00

This is a unionized position: $100 initiation which is spread across first 10 paychecks, union dues are $49/month.

Benefits are 100% paid for the individual and family - Kaiser for medical.

This is a fully onsite position in San Leandro,CA.
