General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking a dedicated and able Laborer to join our Operations team. As a Laborer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the appearance of our college campus, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our students, faculty, and staff.
As a laborer you will perform a variety of routine cleaning duties under supervision to prepare buildings, classrooms and offices for daily operations. Good listening skills and ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions is essential. Successful applicant will have positive attitude and strong customer service skills. Campus activities depend heavily on the functions of this position, reliable attendance is important.
The responsibilities of this position involves performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual work. Under direct supervision, the incumbent performs routine work requiring physical strength, endurance and a willingness to perform heavy work. Does related work as required.
This position will provide a steady and consistent 40 hour work week with overtime opportunities.

Typical Work Activities
Cleans and services buildings by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and waxing floors in offices, halls, classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, corridors, stairwells and other common areas,
Cleans lighting fixtures, replaces light bulbs, and washes windows, moves furniture, equipment, washes walls, wipes furniture, dusts, cleans black and white boards in classrooms and other cleaning duties.
Assists with outside work such as sweeping walks, shoveling snow, trash pickup and salting adjacent to buildings
Picks up and disposes trash or soiled linen;
Occasionally may assist with the loading and unloading of trucks related to special event material and supplies
Essential Functions
Ability to lift heavy weights; willingness to perform routine manual work; willingness to work under all weather conditions; physical endurance; physical condition commensurate with the requirements of the position.
