BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Production Planner/ Quality Inspector Entry Level in Sandy, Utah

Job Description Summary

Demonstrate basic Machine Shop knowledge and or prior work experience coupled with aptitude and desire to enter a dual focused formal training program targeted to develop functional primary and advanced skills in Quality Assurance machine part inspection as well as Production Planning. This role will be specifically and equally designed to support the Sandy Becton Dickenson Machine Shop. Weekly tasks will be evenly divided between the Quality Inspection role and the Production Planning role. This is an Entry Level Position.

Quality Inspection

Learning the Quality Inspection skill will entail close tolerance inspection of Machined Parts using calibrated inspection equipment to verify adherence to Engineering drawing requirements that support BD production Line exacting needs.

Production Planning

Supporting our current Senior Production Planner by becoming proficient in the following tasks:

• Work order creation and tracking.

• Work order closeout and delivery to the Tool Crib.

• Coordinate, Interface and track outside post processing to ensure timely and accurate turn around.

• Function as department liaison for day-to-day business exchanges between key internal interfacing departments such as Shipping Receiving, Tool Crib and Engineering.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing all duties related to supporting production of high quality products in accordance with regulations and client requirements. The role will be primarily focused on driving continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing facility. This includes acting as a liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Control, and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of activities to meet production schedules and cost targets while maintaining product quality.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective communication and coordination of activities to meet production schedules and cost targets while maintaining product quality.

• Develops annual Master Schedule / Material Requirement Plan (MRP) forecast and communicates changes monthly.

• Coordinates production plans to reflect expected sales, inventory levels, and backlog.

• Provides input into capacity planning, long-term strategic plans, and capital investment decisions.

• Establishes and adjusts priorities for production runs based on customer demand, available resources, and plant capacities.

• Assists department managers in resolving production problems including materials shortages, equipment downtime, and labor issues.

• Monitors key performance indicators such as OEE, waste, and cycle times to identify opportunities for process improvements.

• Collaborates with Quality Control to implement corrective actions for nonconforming material.

• Facilitates the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

• Maintains accurate records and reports of production data, inventory levels, and quality assurance activities.

• Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective action plans for identified quality issues.

• Conducts regular audits to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO standards, and other industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across different functional areas.

  • Knowledge of MRP systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, and Internet software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.

  • Lean manufacturing principles preferred.

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
