Umbra Lab Legal Operations Specialist in Santa Barbara, California

Umbra is seeking a talented and motivated Legal Operations Specialist to join the Legal group. As our company grows and continues to disrupt the industry, we require a proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable individual to manage and streamline the operations and play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our team. The individual filling this role will report to the Vice President, Head of Legal and collaborate with all company groups to support Umbra’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of the Legal group’s strategic plan, aligning with the company’s overall business strategy.

  • Contract Management: Provide strong administrative and business support for the contract management function including drafting, reviewing, and tracking contracts, ensuring compliance, and managing contract databases.

  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external legal service providers, manage their performance, and optimize cost-efficiency.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Support: Assist in ensuring the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, and assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions.

  • Legal Technology and Systems: Lead the evaluation and implementation of legal technology solutions to streamline group’s operations, enhance productivity, and ensure data security.

  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the Vice President, Head of Legal to manage the legal department's budget, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of legal operations.

  • Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain a centralized repository of team knowledge, including templates, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Team Support and Development: Provide administrative and operational support to the legal team.

  • Data Analytics: analyze data trends, key metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement.

  • Additional Projects: Participate in other projectsas needed and contribute to the areas where you have skills.

  • Other professional duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, legal studies, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in legal operations or legal project management, with a strong understanding of contract management, legal technology, and vendor management.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Proficiency with legal software and systems.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with Scaled Agile framework.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and innovative environment.

We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by skills, responsibilities and relevant work experience.
