Description

Apple is looking for a world-class thin film engineer to design PVD equipment and processes for advanced technology development. The role requires development and simulation of a production-intent manufacturing process on pilot scale equipment to realize key product performance and economic targets. This individual will work in a multi-functional team with a scale partner to develop production-scale equipment and drive process integration. Travel as required to achieve effective technology transfer and production line readiness will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.

  • Experience in thin film deposition in one of the following industries: semiconductor, thin film display, thin film solar, optical coatings or related industry.

  • Experience with thin film characterization techniques.

  • Ability to travel (domestic and international travel, up to 20%).

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or MS in material science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields.

  • Experienced in deposition of metal and oxide thin films using a range of power configurations (DC, AC, RF).

  • Familiar with in-line and drum coating tool architectures.

  • Experience collaborating with Mechanical Engineering/Design and Operations.

  • Experience managing key vendor relationships and complex production requirements.

  • Proficient with statistical analysis and problem-solving tools (SPC, DOE, Fishbone, FMEA, etc).

  • Proficient with thin film characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, SIMS, etc).

  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills.

  • Ability to independently drive projects and deliver a product.

  • Flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,500 and $293,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
