Responsible for sales personnel, policies and practices for the Knife River operating companies in the specific geographic market which includes construction materials and asphalt oil products. Minimum Qualifications: 1.Minimum of 5 years' experience in a related field. 2.1-3 years of supervisory experience desired. 3.Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications: 1.4 year degree in marketing, business, engineering or construction plus seven years in progressively responsible sales management positions or the equivalent in a construction or materials based business. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive understanding of product application and use 1.Extensive knowledge of the construction industry, material suppliers, asphalt oil suppliers, major market share competitors. 2.Extensive knowledge of pricing strategies. 3.Strong sales and marketing skills. 4.Strong leadership skills. 5.Understanding company financials. 6.Excellent negotiator. 7.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 8.Strong supervisory skills. Duties & Responsibilities 1.Customer Relations: responsible for programs and processes for the sales force to deploy with current and potential customers. Aggressively pursues and manages ongoing relationships with customers to deliver outstanding products and services. Makes sales contacts with customers on a routine basis. 2.Sales: forecast and develop annual sales plan for all product lines; develop pricing structure for all product lines; work with operations management to determine available inventory; provide sales quotes to both internal and external customers; monitor competitor activity; troubleshoot and problem solve with operations management on any issues that may inhibit sales potential and/or growth. Work with customer and internal QA/QC personnel on any quality issues. 3.Marketing: develop marketing strategies to differentiate company products and services form the competitors; provide training or informational opportunities for customers to learn more about products and services; monitor customer and market trends and direct and supervise research and development. 4.Leadership/Management: hire, train, supervise, develop, and assess performance of sales representatives; assign and monitor sales activities for sales representatives in their territory; inform senior management of significant projects or sales opportunities; participate in general management meetings and activities as needed. 5.Other: work with affiliated companies on projects as needed. Represent the company professionally at trade association meetings and conventions to promote products and services. 6.Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, tea -player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others. 7.Ensure OSHA safety and environmental regulation compliance. 8.Performs other duties as assigned.
