CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Senior Project Manager - Telecommunications Project

Type: Contract

Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Telecommunications Project

Location: Scranton, PA

*Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Scranton, PA *

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: BA or BS degree in relevant studies desired

This role does require field work -

  • the expectation is they will report to the office in downtown Scranton daily.

  • They will visit the field a few times a week as well.

  • A long term rental will be provided

A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as

  • Being able to work behind a desk, and on a job site as needed.

Description

  • Coordinate and drive the project teams to deliver the intended short-term and long-term results.

  • Development of project schedules. Organize & communicate schedules and timelines.

  • Review drawings and specifications to become completely familiar with the project and identify long lead times and critical path items.

  • Work with Sales, Program Managers, and Deal Management to obtain contracts and purchase orders. Assist with creating written estimates for customers based on engineering, labor, and materials.

  • Oversee pre-construction site surveys to verify cable routing, identify any obstacles that may result in additional construction costs, and take field measurements.

  • Monitor fiber optic plant construction activities to ensure products are being installed within customer guidelines and manufacturer standard recommended procedures (SRP).

  • Visit project sites to evaluate progress and respond to customers’ concerns or questions. Direct contractor activities if needed.

  • Provide daily reports outlining construction progress on all installations located in the assigned area of responsibility.

  • Communicate with site superintendents about delays and any other issues that must be communicated to clients.

  • Participate in weekly/monthly forecasting meetings to offer input into dates and risk associated with timing of revenue recognition.

  • Organize or attend weekly project meetings as requested by the customer and keep detailed meeting minutes for publishing to project team and leadership.

  • Communicate and follow up with customers’ requests as required about specific projects.

  • Visit customers as needed to ensure satisfaction and discuss any new projects being planned.

  • Process invoices for customers and/or vendors based on services rendered.

  • Track and report on material status for projects.

  • Update project data in various systems; create reporting and tracking spreadsheets.

  • Create submittals and purchase orders.

  • Assemble the close-out documents for customers. Attend pre/post-installation meetings.

  • Consult with Business Ops to ensure reports match the revenue recognition timing within SAP.

  • They will travel daily. The expectation is they will report to the office in downtown Scranton daily.

  • They will visit the field a few times a week as well.

  • They will need to do a long-term rental vs. their personal vehicle, this will be reimbursed by the company.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of OSP telecom construction project management experience

  • BA or BS degree in relevant studies desired

  • Experienced with telecom fiber optic network construction methods and equipment

  • PMP certification a plus

  • Read and understand FTTX (fiber to the home) NDS and CAD designs

  • Working understanding of fiber optic network architectures

  • Extensive knowledge with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to handle rapidly changing priorities

  • Attention to detail with focus on error-free work

  • Sound problem solving and decision-making processes and skills

  • Ability to maintain composure and professional demeanor at all times

  • Work well in a team environment

  • Result-oriented and responsive; utilizes network, SME’s and other available resources to facilitate driving tasks to closure

  • Strong interpersonal skills to support customer interface, consultative activities, and work as part of a commercial team.

  • Working knowledge of fiber optic testing procedures

  • Experience/familiarization/working knowledge of tier 1 telco internal systems/software a plus

  • Willingness to work outside of normal scheduled business hours when necessary

  • 100% fluent in English

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of utility construction and project planning procedures

  • Familiarity with Procore project management software

  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS-based systems

  • Understanding of RUS (Rural Utility Service) Codes

  • Ability to troubleshoot potential warranty issues using provided equipment such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), Visual Fault Locators (VFL), and Optical Test Sets.

  • Familiarization with products
