The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-level Out of Production Deputy Chief Program Engineer to join the team in Seal Beach, CA.

The role of the Out of Production (OOP) Deputy Chief Project Engineer provides airplane level oversight for all design changes on OoP airplanes. This is accomplished by being a technical expert available for consultation and collaboration with Design Engineering, Pilots, Maintenance Engineering, etc., on all design changes. The OoP Deputy Chief Project Engineer is also responsible for product integrity and in-service safety of OoP airplanes by addressing and providing guidance of potential airplane safety concerns. The OoP Deputy Chief Project Engineer approves mitigating actions for safety, regulatory issues, and economic issues. The Deputy Chief Project Engineer is the technical expert in formal design reviews and responsible for adjudication across disciplines for OoP airplanes. The Deputy Chief Project Engineer is responsible for communicating with the FAA regarding certification activities for the OoP airplanes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

  • Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  • Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  • Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering

  • 3+ years of experience as a lead of Multi-discipline teams

  • Experience with the Safety Process and Certification process

  • Bachelors in Engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Current or former Engineering Unit Member

  • Experience with the Boeing Safety Process and Certification process

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $104,500 - $141,450
