The Books Bulk Ordering & Gifting team is seeking a highly-motivated Account Manager to work directly with our Books publishers to deliver bulk orders for Amazon Business customers.

The Bulk Books Account Manager is responsible for driving the value, selection, and fulfillment for customers ordering in bulk on Amazon Business and plays a key role in shaping the future of the program by solving complex operational problems, leveraging data to make decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to help customers. In this role, you will be responsible for:

• (1) Bulk Order Evaluation and Execution: Fulfill bulk orders of physical books for organizational customers, including confirming inventory availability, finalizing selection, and implementing pricing.

• (2) Process Improvement and Program Excellence: Collaborate with publishers, sales team, operations teams, vendor management teams, and product teams to explore innovative ways to improve the purchasing and delivery experience for bulk orders.

• (3) Relationship Management: Provide day-to-day support for customers, publishers, and internal stakeholders and collaboratively drive success in selection, pricing, and operations.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess strong customer account management skills, passion for tactical operations, data analysis, and decision-making skills. They should be able to deliver against defined processes and services and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires both staying close to the details of every order in various stages of execution and being able to process a high number of orders.

Above all, they should demonstrate a high level of ownership, with the ability to identify and solve problems, as they would be the key to delivering bulk books orders for customers, owning their satisfaction, and contributing to their overall Amazon Business experience.

Key job responsibilities

Account Managers are responsible for driving publisher business improvement and delivering a positive program experience. The key responsibilities of Account Managers are as follows:

(1) Bulk Order Evaluation and Execution

•Assess available inventory and sourcing options with publishers to offer customer-requested titles and quantities

•Support negotiated bid responses with customers and implement negotiated pricing for the final selection of titles

•Diligently track inventory flow from publishers to end customers and communicate updates to complete the bulk order on-time

•Demonstrate excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently while following established procedures and policies.

(2) Process Improvement and Program Excellence:

•Assist with the definition and design of processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and tools for the team.

•Identify, action and/or provide advice on how to improve/automate processes that drive efficiencies, continuous improvement, and benefit the end customer experience, in collaboration with other Books programs and teams.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify issues and create action plans to resolve complex problems.

(3) Relationship Management:

•Build strong relationships, be a trusted advisor, and deliver timely, accurate and professional support to customers, publishers, and internal stakeholders.

•Play a central oversight role in tracking and communicating order execution and status both internally and externally.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of sales or account management experience

  • 2+ years of digital advertising and client facing roles experience

  • Experience with Excel

  • Experience analyzing data and best practices to assess performance drivers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing key open issues and resolution metrics for each of the managed accounts

  • Experience in relationship management within technology, start-ups, or SaaS Platforms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $47,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $100,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
