DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: DAY CAMP COUNSELOR COMPENSATION: $20.00 (HOURLY) STATUS: NON-EXEMPT/SEASONAL-FULLTIME LOCATION: SEATTLE WHITE CENTER FUNCTION OF POSITION Responsible for supervising activities of Day Campers assigned to counselors. Will plan and lead activities as assigned and assist other counselors with their programs. ACCOUNTABILITY Responsible to the Education Coordinator. QUALIFICATIONS An understanding and acceptance of the Salvation Army's mission, philosophy, and practices. Must be able to deal with the public in an understanding and diplomatic manner. A current First Aid and CPR card. Ability to provide leadership, make reliable decisions when necessary, and work as a team player. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with other staff and to the general public. Must possess a valid driver's license. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The camp counselor shall supervise day camp participants as assigned and shall not leave his/her area except when relieved by another person. The camp counselor shall assist in the organization of and lead activities as assigned. Responsible for group outings and field trips. Oversee participants in the gym and game room and see that activities are conducted in a safe manner. When necessary, record statistics of day camp programs. Drive a minivan and/or 14-passenger bus. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older and have a current WA Driver License Must be able to clear the Motor Vehicle Records check Must be able to walk 1 mile to and from our local school for pickups daily. Drive a bus van to pick up students. Maintain a daily transportation log indicating students who are being transported.
