Description THE ROLE The CNO is an inspirational mission-driven leader who possesses the organizational and political skills to successfully lead the transformation of nursing and interdisciplinary care delivery across all settings of care within the North Division. The CNO is an exemplary role model of the highest professional nursing standards and conduct, is the "voice" and advocate for nursing and interdisciplinary care strategy and operational initiatives and performs all duties in a manner that reflects the Providence mission and values. This position has overall accountability for nursing and interdisciplinary leadership, strategic direction, quality, and outcomes of care. The CNO establishes and communicates a vision and direction for patient-centered and evidence-based care delivery in an integrated and team-based context. In partnership with the Executive and Operations Leadership Team, the CNO leads in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the quality of clinical care across the full clinical care continuum. The position is responsible for driving a service-oriented culture focused on superior patient experience, employee engagement, quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency. The CNO sets and enforces standards for professional nursing practice including leadership development, educational requirements, and workforce goals and targets. The CNO is responsible for establishing a culture of accountability and stewardship, and for leading in removal of unnecessary clinical and practice standard variation through regional alignment of care delivery and operational practices where appropriate. The position advocates for strategic patient care priorities with internal and external constituents and stakeholders to ensure optimal operating effectiveness, market positioning, and quality outcomes. The CNO collaborates closely with Providence system and regional colleagues to achieve system and regional quality outcomes, and priority strategic clinical initiatives. The position serves as a member of the Operations Leadership Team and the North Division nursing leadership team. Major Challenges: Maintaining organization and efficiency to handle multiple responsibilities and quickly shifting priorities in an environment of ambiguity and multiple interruptions. Anticipating challenges and potential barriers in order to maneuver through complex political situations effectively. Providing timely, clear, and accurate information, attentive to detail, while performing under numerous time deadlines.
