This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will apply standard engineering methods for the design, development, and verification of data collection and control systems used in either flight component testing or ground launch support facilities. This requires the development and release of artifacts following the facility lifecycle plan as well maintaining configuration management of operational systems. Applies standard engineering techniques to design, develop, and maintain instrumentation or controls systems. Automates manufacturing or similar processes through the use of instrumentation or controls systems. Develops new and modifies existing PLC or HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded controls. Participates in set-up and commissioning of new facilities or upgrading of existing facilities. Troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions and makes recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations. Documents specifications and operating procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Architecting systems to collect data from a variety of instrumentation. Using AutoCAD Electrical to perform electrical design of Data system and/or control systems including enclosure design utilizing UL508A. Avionics checkout system design. Sensor/actuator interface circuit design. Detailed troubleshooting of technical electrical designs. Video monitoring/recording system design. Minimum Qualifications: BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. 3-5 years experience with industrial or aerospace control and/or data system design or operation. Ability to design electrical systems using CAD based electrical schematic and panel layout tools (preferably AutoCAD Electrical). Understanding of the National Electric Code (NFPA70) Knowledge of National Instruments data acquisition hardware or equivalent. Demonstrate knowledge of integrating instrumentation into data acquisition and/or control system hardware. Demonstrate knowledge of the basic theory behind instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, strain, and acceleration applications. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with analog circuit PCB design using Altium design tools focusing on signal conditioning of high frequency instrumentation. Experience with 120-480 volt power circuit & power distribution design. Understanding of additional electrical codes such as NFPA 70E, 79, 496, 497, UL508A, 698. Design experience in noise reduction, shielding, and analog/digital filtering to provide high fidelity measurements. Experience with video monitoring systems (webcam, high definition, high speed, infrared, etc.). Tuning closed loop control systems.
