WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Perform routine corrective electrical maintenance work and repair on circuits, systems, fixtures, timers and equipment
Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are First PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform electrical alteration work such as installing and or modifying conduit, wiring, cables, switches, controls, fuse boxes, breakers panels, instrument panels, distribution panels, alarms, buzzers, and circuits
Inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical and communications systems and equipment
Specialized equipment includes electrical distribution system devices, automatic transfer switches, nurse call medical emergency and status light systems, electrical components and alarms of the medical gas and medical vacuum systems, Variable Frequency Speed Controllers; 6" Pneumatic tube system, Point to Point Pneumatic tube system, surgery lights, warming cabinets, imprinters, and Simplex clock systems
Communicate with customers, supervisors, electricians, and other trades to purchase new equipment and develop cost estimates
Work collaboratively to research and trace circuits prior to scheduled electrical shutdowns and identify critical needs to remain in service
Maintain inventory; participate in training of other Electricians REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician; OR full journey status as an electrician in a union; OR four years' applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required. Examination Requirements:
The examination (including written, E & T and oral components) will consist of a scored evaluation of the applicant's training and experience as an electrician or electrician's helper; knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the electrician trades and standard safety precautions; ability to work form blueprints, plans and sketches to estimate material and time required for job completion; and ability to maintain hand and power tools required to the trade.
