As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will impact the development, validation and maturation of Liquid Propulsion Rocket Engine (LPRE) control algorithms and simulation models by leading various test activities in an Integrated Hardware-In-The-Loop (IHIL) environment. This role supports the development and validation of control algorithms on all Blue Engine programs. In this role, you will support the design, development, and operations of an avionics systems integration test lab that meets Blue Origin's needs for a variety of liquid propulsion rocket engines. The avionics subsystem includes the controller electronics, software, harness interconnects, instrumentation and electronic exciter used on the engine for ignition and powered flight. You support your team through the design, installation and operation of an Integrated Hardware-in-the-Loop (IHIL) test environment, technical trade study support and a myriad of other test engineering-related activities. These responsibilities will require wide application of engineering principles and concepts, plus an understanding of scripting languages, data analysis and other related subject areas. You will work with the Engines Design Office and your team in using technical standards and processes to enable robust, right-sized avionics test equipment development. This includes sharing lessons learned across the Blue Engines programs to continuously improve how Blue Origin develops and tests avionics and engine control systems. Responsibilities: Work closely with customers to understand and develop requirements Lead major aspects of the IHIL design, lead the design and build by independent work and leading others Independently operate IHIL Test Stations, includes gathering requirements, designing a test card, coordinating with stakeholders and generating test logs Build components of the IHIL, follow/develop designs, order parts, assemble and test components and systems Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering, or related STEM field 2+ years of relevant experience Experience with designing, building, commissioning, and/or operating complex aerospace testing equipment (hydraulics, pneumatics, controls, safety systems or electronics) Experience with mechanical-hydraulic systems (high pressure hydraulics, machine guarding, mechanical assembly methods, closed loop hydraulic control systems), ability to read and understand piping & instrumentation diagrams, drawings, specifications and experience in development testing and integration. Experience with data and control systems set-up, operation, and data processing including sensor selection, calibration, and grounding and shielding. Ability to support off shifts as needed Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Desired: Experience or familiarity with MathWorks and adjacent products (MATLAB, Simulink, Speedgoat) Capable of leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer Experience/familiarity in controls systems Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $109,980-$153,972 Other site ranges may differ Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
