Global Talent Management & Compensation (GTMC) is a central People eXperience and Technology (PXT) team responsible for creating and evolving Amazon’s human capital and talent products and processes. GTMC is looking for aManager, Business Intelligence to lead a team of business intelligence engineers that works closely with product managers. Our goal is to strengthen Amazon’s workplace culture and help develop leaders who earn trust, remove barriers to excellence and make Amazon an inspiring place to work. The ideal candidate must have an interest and passion around the employee experience, improving the workplace, and driving internal change that enables employees to deliver for customers more effectively. This leader must have the ability to lead multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high bar for customer obsession. This is a role for someone who wants to bring their excellent analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen, and strong comfort in working with product teams and business leaders to a space rich with opportunity for innovation. Strong attention to detail is a must and you will need to be able to manage prioritization and communication across stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities

Set and deliver strategy for business intelligence team.

Hire, manage, coach and lead a high performing team of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers.

Engage with leadership and diversified stakeholder groups to understand their data and analytics needs and recommend BI solutions.

Partner with the Data Engineering teams to define the data elements and data structure that the team should leverage to enable analytical

Design, implement, and support platforms that provide business teams with self-service access to large datasets.

Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing performance metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.

Proactively develop new metrics and studies to quantify safety risks and identify program opportunities.

Work with Software Development teams to drive capture and storage of key data points, and on implementation of new dashboards/analyses.

Conduct written and verbal presentation to share insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for predictive data analyses.

Managing overall access to data and tokenization/confidentiality.

About the team

The Amazonian Career Events (ACE) mission is to deliver connected experiences for career discovery, movement (lateral and 3 vertical), and compensation. The Analytics function within ACE is a growing team of 8 responsible for the underlying Analytics strategy (including VOC) for all of ACE's products.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience

  • 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with ETL

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience

  • 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
