REI Master Data Management Analyst II in Seattle, Washington
Overview
This job contributes to REI’s success by creating, maintaining, and governing core enterprise data within SAP, which enables critical business functions across IT, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Digital, Retail Operations, Marketing, Experiences, and Real Estate divisions. The work of the MDM team is directly responsible for the setup, procurement, and salability of all products REI sells to our customers. The role is both technical and business-focused and requires proven communication and collaboration with external and internal partners across REI divisions. This position will perform activities to source data, govern it, protect it, and enhance its value as an asset of the organization. The functional scope will focus on the enterprise master data management of articles, sites, vendors, and related reference data such as structure, assortments, prices, purchase orders, allocations, and promotions. The MDM Analyst II will update and maintain data sourcing, cleansing, and entry tools currently in use. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.
Creates, maintains, and governs core enterprise data and data management solutions within SAP, which flow to multiple downstream systems across the organization and facilitate functions of sales forecasting, demand planning, sales-operations planning, supply chain optimization, business intelligence and investigation, and other business needs.
Ensures accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of Master Data throughout all business and systems in the enterprise.
Provides root-cause insights of data quality issues; develops and implements solutions.
Provides coaching and feedback to upstream partners across business divisions to maintain accountability around data integrity, accuracy, standards, and workflow processes.
Supports the MDM Manager through ongoing training and mentorship to MDM team members regarding MDM processes, REI business processes, REI systems, and associated data flows.
Provides leadership and support for cross-divisional or enterprise-level projects requiring MDM participation and SAP functionality.
Collaborates with cross-divisional partners to align on business needs for MDM processes, including capturing business requirements, understanding and documenting business process flows, understanding and documenting data flow across the process and systems, identifying relevant teams and roles across divisions, establishing rules for approvals and escalations, and ensuring business needs are met while data is maintained with accuracy.
Partners with deployment and development teams to provide approaches, standards, policies, and MDM strategies; identify master data impacts on systems and processes as can be applied to technology and business process improvement projects.
Reviews existing MDM processes to ensure they are effective and meet organizational needs; develops, implements, and documents process changes where process improvements can be made.
Maintains effective Master Data Management communication and customer service, including exchange of data, error resolution, and operational processes while building rapport with internal and external customers.
Serves as an escalation and data resource related to MDM systems, data, and process issues for both MDM members and other internal customers.
Performs incident and problem resolution, work requests, and change implementation in accordance with enterprise processes.
Monitors and initiates corrective actions to ensure and improve the quality of Enterprise Master Data.
Contributes to the design and support of data standards, governance processes, and monitoring of data integrity.
Creates and updates documentation of operating procedures and training materials for newly implemented changes.
Assists with Quality Assurance processes for technical or business process improvement projects.
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to members of the business and/or IT by providing technical mentorship and advising on project requirements and solutions relating to multiple areas of Master Data in SAP.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
1-3 years of professional experience working in a retail setting.
1-3 years of experience with data management & governance: data cleansing, establishing & enforcing standards.
1-3 years of experience with SAP (or similar core ERP system/relational database) transaction codes, query tools, and tables related to materials management and pricing, vendors, locations, contracts.
Advanced Excel skills.
Proficiency with using and troubleshooting Excel macros and VBA.
Winshuttle experience (preferred).
Data Auditing Skills: SQL experience, Query building & development.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage high email volume efficiently using Outlook.
Exceptional understanding of how master data is used across the transactional and functional areas of systems.
Understanding of Database Methods: Design, Structure, Flow.
Knowledge of retail business processes across the enterprise.
Proven data-based and problem-solving skills, including root-cause insights.
Ability to collect, articulate, and manage technical project requirements & build process flows.
Technical aptitude and knowledge of tools and systems used to manage and maintain master data.
Effectively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.
Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.
Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.
Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent work experience in computer science, data science, or data analytics.

Pay Range
$57,300.00 - $86,100.00 per year
