Blue Origin LLC Mechanical Engineer II - New Glenn Avionics in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and beyond.Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be part of the mechanical team that helps develop innovative designs for New Glenn Avionics. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing engineers to create and expedite Change Requests and Design Improvements to various assemblies and parts. You will have to use your mechanical and analytical skills to determine if the requests and improvements are acceptable. You must have a willingness to take ownership of unfamiliar and complex problems, communicate effectively, and deliver technically excellent results in an ambitious and dynamic environment. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Create and facilitate Change Requests and Change Notices in Windchill. Review hardware Non-Conformances for acceptability for structural, thermal, and tolerances. Help Responsible engineers with MCAD CREO design and drafting of Avionics Line Replaceable Units placement and mounting drawings as required. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Proficient in CREO design of parts and assemblies, drafting and drawings. A minimum of 2 years' experience in CREO and Windchill. Experience with CreoView Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5) Experience with complex tolerance stack up analysis Experience with MCAD/ECAD import and export Experience with designing parts for a machining and sheet metal manufacturing environment Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred)with strong structural and thermal hand calculation skills. Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time Ability to communicate analysis results effectively Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualifications 4 years' experience with aerospace avionics support. Experience withstaticstructural, modal, random vibration,and thermal analysis (level commensurate on experience) Experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures or similar high-performance hardware Familiarity using ANSYS and IcePak Compensation Range for: WA applicants is $89,820.00-$125,748.00 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
