Description
Principal TPM at Amazon owns a very large cross org program(s). Manages significantly complex cross-functional technology initiatives. They are strategic and make trade-offs: business opportunity vs. resources vs. sustainability. They can identify risks/opportunities in technical strategies, architecture(s) and/or engineering organization structure(s).
Item Identity organization is responsible for transforming seller listings into products buyers can purchase on the Amazon Marketplace. This enables a one stop product experience where buyers can find all information about the product, competing offers by sellers, and product reviews. This is a key differentiator which appeals buyers to shop on Amazon. The portfolio of services and products we own directly impacts both seller and buyer experiences on a massive scale.
As a Principal TPM with Item Identity Organization you will collaborate with a wide range of business/partner teams to establish overall program strategy. You will drive programs to enable solutions that allow business teams to expand product selection across different marketplaces on Amazon.com, and provide perfect product selection to buyers. You will also work with applied scientists to explore how machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) can be leveraged to improve accuracy of listing-to-product transformations at scale, and integrate it as part of overall program roadmap.
Key job responsibilities
• You will deep dive into data, experiences and work with partner teams to understand the customer problems, pain points and root causes.
• You will be working with very large-scale systems with dependencies across orgs, understanding of those systems will be critical for success in this role.
• You will be representing verbally and in writing complex decisions, tough trade-offs, and potential solutions clearly to leaders up to 3 levels above across orgs to influence program strategy.
• You will drive execution of programs with high quality, provide sustainable solution, and manage program risks in collaboration with business stakeholders and program dependencies.
• You should thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and shouldn’t be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities.
• You will recognize when current programs are susceptible to prior technology failure patterns and actively steer teams to avoid repeating these failures.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
• 7+ years of experience managing programs or products across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
• 10+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams on technical product development
• Excellent communication skills in written and oral English
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Computer science/Math or related field
• Prior experience of building large-scale software systems
• Prior experience of building products involving AI/ML

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $175,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $302,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
