Job Summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Regional Operations Director of Child Care and Day Camps to drive long-term strategy, deliver on program commitments and nurture relationships with local key community and educational stakeholders. The Regional Operations Director will provide program operations expertise, lead staff development for assigned leaders, develop and maintain school-based relationships and build best in class youth-serving programs in the Youth Development Programs Branch including, but not limited to, Early Education, BASE (before and after-school childcare), Day Camps, and Enrichment programs. The Regional Operations Director will work with the Senior Branch Executive and the other Regional Operations Directors to lead strategy and vision both internally and externally. In close partnership with the highly collaborative YMCA of Greater Seattle leadership, the Regional Operations Director is expected to build upon the organization’s success, constructing and fulfilling all assigned financial and operational goals and objectives. We are seeking a proven leader who can direct and support change management with ease. The Regional Operations Director will be comfortable motivating, communicating, and influencing and in a multitude of environments with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.

Hiring Range: $95,000 - $110,000/annually

    We are hiring for four positions, each responsible for a designated region. The available regions and their primary coverage areas are:

  • South Region: Areas include but are not limited to Kent, Auburn, SeaTac, and Burien.

  • Central Region: Areas include but are not limited to Seattle.

  • North Region: Areas include but are not limited to Shoreline, Edmonds, and Bothell.

  • East Region: Areas include but are not limited to Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, and Snoqualmie.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary operations lead and point of contact for their assigned regional area of the Youth Development Programs Branch.

  • Provides leadership and direction to the budget and day-to-day fiscal operations of assigned programs and departments.

  • Manages the budgeting process so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives for a department as well as supports the budget process for other departments in the Youth Development Programs Branch.

  • Ensures departmental fiscal performance meets or exceeds targets.

  • Supervises assigned Program and Center Directors to assure sound operations. Provides leadership and direction through coaching, performance management, and professional development to assigned staff and volunteers.

  • In partnership with the Senior Executive of Child Care and Day Camps, supports the operational growth of the Youth Development Programs Branch through participant and site growth, new program expansion and retention of participant through a high-quality experience.

  • Supports program delivery to assure high-quality results that align with association, mission, goals, and strategies.

  • Represents and promotes the Y in the local communities and educational settings and develops positive, effective working relationships with school districts, community partners, businesses and governmental agencies

  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with YMCA standards and all government regulations and applicable external accreditation standards.

  • Partners with Centers of Excellence, Branch Executives and other organizational leaders to ensure consistent safety and high quality of programs in areas including marketing, facility maintenance, and risk.

  • Serves as a member of assigned groups and committees to support the overall objectives of the Association.

  • Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This full-time position typically follows a Monday - Friday schedule, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Hours may vary to support programs operating from 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM, with occasional nights and weekends as needed.

    Travel

    Travel within the assigned region is expected and is primarily during the business day. Ability to travel to schools and program spaces that may not be on public transit lines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience in education, human services or related field. Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered. Must have 45 college credit hours to meet DCYF licensing standards.

  • 5 years of experience in leadership experience, overseeing multiple childcare centers and/or day camp sites.

  • Broad knowledge of licensed and unlicensed youth development programming and associated standards and regulations.

  • Experience applying youth program quality principles to new and existing programs.

  • Demonstrated skills with child behavior management and child abuse prevention.

  • Must be highly organized, able to work independently and have an ability to work under pressure to coordinate multiple requests and meet competing deadlines. Strong project management skills.

  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.

  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a strategy and implement through change management

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).

  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
