School District Occupational Therapist Category: Healthcare & Medical Employment Type: Contract To Hire Reference: BH-380380 School District Occupational Therapist position at one of Yoh's clients in Burien, WA! What You Will Be Doing: Provide indirect therapy services to students in special education, ages 3-21. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff for students they serve in special education. Collaborate with staff in general education classrooms aspart of the Tiered Intervention initiative, to support improved pre-referral interventions. Details: Kindergarten "jumpstart" is Aug. 21. First day of school is Sept. 3. M-F schedule, start time ranging from 7:45a-8:45a depending what schools they are working with. Assignment will go through mid-June with opportunity for extension and conversion if a good fit. Caseload up to 31 students. No more than 3 schools - most likely elementary schools Working alongside other district OTs - very team oriented. Essential Skills You Must Possess: Baccalaureate or higher degree program in occupational therapy from an American Occupational Therapy Association-approved program. Appropriate Washington State ESA certification is required and must be on file prior to beginning work. Washington State OT license is required and must be on file prior to beginning work. Looking for candidates with at least a year of experience (since we cannot provide supervision) and experience working with school-age children. Does not need to be experience from a school setting, any ped experience will suffice. Knowledge of special education law (IDEIA 2004) in order to carry out OT in the educational setting. Proficient with technology. Ability to adapt the environment, the school tasks and/or provide appropriate adaptive equipment to help students access their educational environment. Ability to use professionally recognized evaluation tools and intervention methods to meet the educational needs of students on their caseload. Ability to use a variety of data management systems to monitor student progress. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Strong written communication skills. Ability to relate to students, parents, and staff professionally, positively, and cooperatively. Flexibility and innovative problem-solving. Ability to organize time and materials to accomplish goals. Demonstrates effective time management to manage caseload.
