Amazon Security Engineer, AWS SOC Engineering in Seattle, Washington
Description
AWS Security is looking for a driven professional to join its systems engineering team to manage the operation of our physical access control system (PACS), as well as help us automate a sustainable and robust architecture for future growth. Do you enjoy reverse engineering and diving deep on issues? As a security engineer, you will be responsible for the overall health of our service and provide excellent customer service to our partners. You will create availability and health metrics, monitor performance, perform regular system maintenance, and architect innovative solutions for running a PACS in a large distributed environment. You will drive automations that raise the bar across the SOC and our customer space.
You will automate routine tasks enabling the team to be quick and agile. You'll be one of our experts in system automation. You’ll work closely with internal customers to understand their operational challenges and provide helpful solutions. You should enjoy digging deep to find answers, sometimes this will require reverse engineering existing solutions, a situation you thrive in.
This position may require participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen.
Key job responsibilities
Our environment is primarily Windows hosts on HyperV, but this engineer will be responsible for driving automations in the programming language of their choice. The engineer will help architect and move our environment to Native AWS (NAWS), and lead large modernization, automation, and security raising solutions for the organization.

Today, many tasks are done by hand by a large team of engineers. This engineer will work architecture and automations as their full time role, raising the security bar and reducing manual workload.

AWS-SOC Systems Engineering (SE) team within AWS Security delivers physical security systems to enable our internal customers to execute their jobs safely, securely, and maintain trust. Basic Qualifications
3+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
Experience with AWS products and services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
