Blue Origin LLC Senior Fluids Systems Valve Design Engineer - New Glenn in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth's orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will work on the design, analysis, development, and qualification of the next generation of valves for use on the New Glenn rocket. Your scope will encompass the complete life cycle of the system from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation. You will work with suppliers or Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components. You will size, select material, and analyze flow and structural integrity under pressure, vibration, temperature and mechanical loads. You will work with suppliers and other support organizations to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of detailed mechanical design, requirements, layouts, analysis, component selection, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and test definition. To be successful in this position you will have proven skills in mechanical design, fluid/thermal analysis, structural analysis, material selection, manufacturing processes, engineering release, component/system development testing and vendor management. We are looking for someone at senior engineer level to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent 7+ years of proven experience in the design of aerospace fluid or mechanical systems (Senior Career) Experience in aerospace valve design Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to analyze pressurized systems and secondary structures (ANSYS preferred) Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, tubing, and pressurized hardware Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Solid understanding of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relevant to tubes, machined components, and welded hardware Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent Experience designing systems with Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Methane in liquid and/or gaseous states Experience in system layout or component design for launch vehicle or ground cryogenic and pressure systems Experience with thermo-fluid solver applications Thermal Desktop (Sinda Fluint), AFT (Fathom/Arrow), Excel based models, REFPROP Proven understanding of materials properties and treatments; preference for aerospace materials Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems Experience in all phases of integrating routed fluid systems in ground base or flight vehicle applications Experience in engineering analysis/support for disposition of Non-Conforman
