As a senior manager on our Global Communications team, you lead and support in the implementation and measurement of high-impact, integrated communications plans across various disciplines within corporate communications, with a focus on digital crisis communications/brand reputation and the goal of protecting and elevating the Starbucks business and brand with all stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a passion for crisis communications with a drive to support and protect the brand. At heart, you are an experienced social media strategist and a storyteller, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that will require collaboration across multiple business groups to develop communication strategies that drive engagement, secure brand affinity and ensure our brand is reflected accurately across social properties. As a key leadership function within the organization, you will also be expected to provide timely strategic communications counsel as a subject matter expert to all levels, including senior or regional leaders. Passion and experience in building multi-faceted social media campaigns, including paid media activations, driving creative development, and managing agency partners are a must. This role is critical to serving as an advocate and defender of the company’s reputation, with critical issues and crisis communications responsibilities.

We are looking for someone who leads through our Starbucks Mission, Promises & Values and has a track record of achieving excellence through delivering on priorities, problem-solving, and building/advancing new capabilities within the function. That means:

  • Experience working closely as a trusted expert with senior leaders to identify needs, define strategy, develop action plans, identify deliverables, present results, measure outcomes, and provide recommendations.

  • A proven track record of operating with a bias for action in a rapid response environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data and insights to develop and implement social strategies and channel activations that tackle challenging issues head-on and support the clearing of the path for the rhythm of the business.

  • Expertise in building cross-functional relationships and supporting efforts across marketing and communications teams, managing competing priorities, and exploring new ways of driving improvement.

  • Expertise in cross-channel, multi-platform communication and a deep understanding of the evolving media/social media environment.

  • Ensuring inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility are integrated into practices at all levels.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a preferred minimum of 7 years of advanced experience in consulting and working with senior leaders in the design, development, and execution of digital crisis communications strategies and initiatives.

  • Preferred minimum of 7 years leading a high-performing team and agency partners

  • Demonstrated project management experience, providing effective oversight across the design, delivery, and outcome stages.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, a proven track record of building strong collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
