This is an opportunity to lead an amazing team of product developers and programs to manage Global RTD (ready to drink) in partnership with key strategic partners to create, develop and launch new products in different markets around the world.

You will be responsible for innovating, developing and renovating products - idea to launch. You will optimize processes and programs to build World Class Partnerships and to elevate the product development life cycle. You will work cross-functionally with Brand, External Partnerships, Global Coffee, Supply Chain, Regulatory and QA, to meet our financial and business objectives while delivering the Starbucks experience to our customers wherever they are.

As a senior manager, Global Channel R&D , you will…

  • Lead the team to technically translate and execute retail café products and new concepts within new and existing platforms.

  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally internally and externally to bring products to market through sound strategy, influence and a spirit of co-creation.

  • Ensure project plans, timelines, commercialization and scale-up plans for the team are sound and will deliver upon project and company goals.

  • Originate new ideas and concepts through interpretation and application of macro, micro and market trends.

  • Collaborate with Brand, External Partnerships, Global Coffee, Sourcing, Quality and Regulatory to successfully bring products to market.

  • Structure the team to fulfill the business strategy and goals, as well as the growth and development of partners.

  • Partner across teams to ensure scope of work and resourcing is aligned while adjusting and reprioritizing as necessary.

  • Create an environment that enables partners and teams to thrive and grow.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of product development and manufacturing scale up of food and beverage products with 10 or more years’ experience from bench-top to full scale commercialization required, focus within but not limited to coffee (roast & ground, soluble &/or extract), single serve coffee pods, aseptic, retort, hot fill, dairy expertise plus for liquid/dry dairy creamers.

  • 5+ years of managing a team of 3 or more people.

  • Ability to influence internal & external stakeholders across the business and partnerships.

  • Ability to lead teams, make decisions in an uncertain environment and guide teams through ambiguity while driving for results.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem solving and prioritization skills.

  • Knowledge of sensory, experimental design, statistics and consumer research methodology.

  • BS/MS in Food Science, Nutrition or related scientific discipline required.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
