Amazon Senior Manager, UX Research , Amazon Talent Acquisition in Seattle, Washington

Amazon Talent Acquisition (ATA) seeks a passionate and results-oriented UX Research leader to join our team. Our team is comprised of a group of UX researchers and designers who are responsible for driving the customer experience for corporate recruiting experiences at Amazon. We partner with product, tech and science teams across ATA to deliver research, UX strategy and designs using user-centered methodologies. Our talent development and recruiting tools are used globally by Amazonians and anyone who is thinking about working for Amazon.

As a Sr Manager of UX Research, you will manage a growing team of researchers to anchor research methodologies across all stages of our product development lifecycle. Your team owns research for the employee and candidate experience for global recruiting and talent development at Amazon. You collaborate closely with design, product, engineering, science and Sr. Leaders and other UX teams across Amazon. To succeed in this role, you must be an innovative self-starter in driving operational excellence and a strategic big-picture thinker. You should have shown the ability to succeed in a highly ambiguous, fast-paced environments. Our environment requires the skills to work collaboratively and the commitment to take ownership when needed.

Note on location

We are open to this role being located in Seattle, WA, or Arlington, VA.

Key job responsibilities

  • Grow and develop a high performing team of UX researchers.

  • Lead a team of researchers that inspire and inform design, prototyping and development, through insights from primary customer research which will be a mix of quantitative, qualitative methods.

  • Define customer-centric approaches for envisioning and influencing product strategy and experiences.

  • Partner closely with cross-functional leaders to understand strategic priorities.

  • Drive strategic initiatives and define the CX vision with leaders within and outside of the organization.

  • Own the definition of a cohesive research roadmap and goals supporting multiple product streams.

  • Development of research programs and mechanisms to scale research more broadly across the organization and to cultivate a culture driven by customer needs, insights and data.

  • Effectively devise mechanisms to translate data and insights into strategy and design.

  • Confidently communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.

  • Model behavior that exemplifies Amazon Leadership Principles in their team. Raises the research bar for the organization.

We are a multidisciplinary team creating truly meaningful products and experiences that empower and connect millions of Amazon employees. Our team consist of designers, researchers and writers, and is very diverse in terms of educational background, gender, race, skills, and location.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • 10+ years of industry experience in UX or related discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience managing UX Researchers.

  • Experience combining qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with maturing a research practice (which may include setting up more streamlined research operations, mentoring, and experimenting with ways to increase research impact in the organization).

  • Executive level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Practical knowledge of user-centered design processes and lifecycles.Experience in driving viable UX frameworks and product architectures in highly ambiguous environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver large-scale strategic design initiatives with a bias toward scalable systems and patterns.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Track record of successfully building, growing and retaining senior research talent, promoting strong creative team culture.

  • Strong bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $296,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
