Title: Senior Research Scientist Job Class: Salary/Exempt; $6,500/month PI/Reports To: Drs. Summary: We expect to hire a motivated and experienced scientist who works well with others as part of a research team. The demonstrated ability to successfully design, conduct, and report on research experiments is required. Communication skills, organizational skills, and proficiency in a variety of fluorescence imaging techniques are of paramount importance. Our new team member will pursue the underlying causes of aging associated protein aggregation in neurodegenerative disease using cellular models. This is a full time position working on a research project supported by NIH R01 funding. Additional information about the laboratory and research setting can be found here: www.kraemerlab.uw.edu; https://sites.google.com/prod/uw.edu/liachkolab/research Responsibilities: Supporting ongoing research projects Developing new lines of research investigation Effective communication with internal and external researchers Troubleshooting technical, logistical, and experimental issues Reporting of research findings through scientific journals, meetings, etc Training other laboratory members in experimental techniques Position Requirements: A PhD in a relevant field of the biomedical science 3+ years of postdoctoral experience Excellence in designing, executing, analyzing, and interpreting laboratory experiments Attention to scientific rigor Strong verbal communication skills Enthusiasm for collaborative work in a dynamic laboratory setting Ability to work both independently and as a cooperative part of a team Desirable Experience/Skills: Expertise with basic and advanced microscopy techniques Experience in BSL2 cell culture and/or primary cell culture techniques from mice Experience in C. elegans husbandry Experience with mouse models of human disease Experience with genetic analysis methods in model organisms Experience with bioinformatics including transcriptomic analyses Experience with recombinant protein expression systems and purification Aptitude for effective scientific writing Knowledge of genetics and/or neurobiology Knowledge of the pathobiology of neurodegenerative disease Knowledge of the biology of aging and disease Knowledge of protein aggregation and or liquid-liquid phase separation How to apply: Please complete online application and upload a cover letter and resume.
