Amazon Sr Manager Data Engineering, ADSP Product Operations & Analytics in Seattle, Washington

As a Sr Manager of Data Engineering , you would own the architecture of Data Engineering solutions for the ADSP Product

Operations & analytics team’s data platform. You would have the opportunity to lead the vision, design, and creation of a new data platform to provide fast access to extremely large datasets for product, science, finance, and sales teams. You will have strong business and communication skills to work with Business Intelligence Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Managers to work backwards from customer use cases. You will be responsible for leading a team of Data Engineers using agile software development best practices including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and roadmap/capacity planning. You will be responsible for guiding these Data Engineers in designing and implementing scalable ETL processes to support the rapidly growing and dynamic business demand for data. You will partner and collaborate with other Data Engineering teams across the ad platform and use it to deliver the data as a product which will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable data products - infrastructure, data pipelines leveraging AWS Services (EMR, Glue, Lambda, Dynamo, Redshift etc) and Open source big data solutions (Trino, SuperSet, Iceburg etc).

  • Improve existing solutions and come up with a next generation Data Architecture to improve scale, quality, timeliness, coverage, monitoring, and security.

  • Mentor and lead Data Engineers by cultivating curiosity, deep technical understanding through collaboration, code reviews, and leading by example.

  • Lead design reviews for other Data Engineers on the team and actively participate in design reviews of related tech products.

  • Create and implement Data Governance strategy for mitigating, privacy and security risks and improve the quality of data.

  • Provide Technical leadership to Data Engineering teams within ADSP.

  • Constantly monitor and comprehend diverse data frameworks developed by various teams within the Ads Org and demonstrate the ability to swiftly adopt tools that address current data solution gaps while aligning with long term roadmap.

Basic Qualifications

    • 10+ years of data engineering experience.
    • 5+ years of management experience and growing both junior and senior talent.
    • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
    • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
    • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with core AWS big data stack (Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR).
    • Experience operating large data warehouses.
    • Advertising domain expertise

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $182,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $314,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
