AWS is looking for a Sr. Piping Engineer to become part of a global data center engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation within our rapidly expanding data center footprint. This position can be based out of Seattle, Washington or Herndon, Virginia.

Our Senior Piping Engineers is responsible for performing analysis related to piping and piping supports in order to show code and regulatory compliance and will have strong interfaces with the Product Design, Civil Structural Design, Field and Operation teams.

As a piping engineer at Amazon you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Define and analyze piping and pipe supports to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with internal and external ecosystem partners to design and develop new data center product solutions.

• Support field engineering and data center operation teams for performing root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center products.

• Maintain and develop technical design procedures associated with piping and pipe support analysis activities.

• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management and partner teams.

• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.

• Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating extreme ownership.

• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical and associated sub components.

• Provide product design support to other team members.

• Writing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering. Will also accept equivalent domain specific technical experience in lieu of a degree.

· 7+ years of experience in working in heavy industrial environments. Proven experience in collaborating with construction and plant personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

• PE certification preferred

• Experience designing piping and plumbing designs for hydronic systems for data centers.

• Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing.

• Experience with full lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet associated milestones.

• Proficiency with CAD software tools.

• Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

• Experience designing air- or water-cooled systems for high-heat density applications.

• Knowledge of industry standards, including ASME B31.1 & B31.3.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
