AWS Applications and Higher Level Abstractions (Apps) provides horizontal and industry vertical applications for business users with the same on-demand scalability, reliability, pay-as-you-go pricing, and machine learning expertise that drive AWS services. The AWS Applications group includes services such as Amazon Connect (a cost-effective cloud contact center), our End User Computing (including Amazon Workspaces, AppStream, etc.), Marketing Tech (Amazon Pinpoint), and Autonomous Checkout and Identity Services (Just Walk Out, Amazon One) for retail, sports, travel, and other verticals.

Physical Stores Technology, part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), is looking for a self-motivated and talented Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer to support new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining programs.

Physical Stores Technology transforms customers' shopping experience by providing a seamless and smooth checkout experience. Our technology spans from Just-Out-Technology (JWO) available in many stadiums and airports, Amazon One palm payments and Smart Dash Carts. You will be part of a group of talented hardware and software engineers their aim is to push the frontier of AI/ML models infused in sensor technologies to delight our customers.

As a Sr. Regulatory Compliance Engineer, you will be waring many regulatory hats. Primarily you will be responsible for EMC and safety support to development team. You will act as a the subject matter expert on EMC and safety standards, regulatory design requirements, compliance test methods and setup. You will effectively collaborate with stakeholders and communicate to leadership the compliance strategy of a product that best serves the company.

Key job responsibilities

  • Planning for new and existing programs regulatory strategy based business needs.

  • Collaborate with development teams to identify and write regulatory requirements.

  • Lead regulatory discussions with engineering development, legal, and business development.

  • Work with external test labs and certification agencies to prepare test samples and obtain certifications.

  • Review and approve product electrical and mechanical design.

  • Be vigilant to changes and new statutes related to product compliance worldwide to the regulatory.

  • Responsible for creating regulatory label artworks.

  • Conduct internal pre-compliance and compliance testing.

  • Maintain internal labs qualification and equipment calibration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar technical discipline.

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in EMC, ESD and safety

  • 3+ years hands-on experience in WiFi, RFID and Sub Gigsystems.

  • Experience in compliance design, testing, data interpretation and debug experience.

  • Experience in submissions for official certification through relevant compliance bodies such as FCC and NRTL across multiple products. Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners in CM, ODM and JDM models, and understanding of the CE/UKCA legal framework and experience with LVD, RED, and EMCD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in international regulatory requirements in Europe, Asia, and South America.

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.

  • Experience with laser and LED eye safety.

  • Experience with EU Machinery Directive.

  • Experience in creating and executing risk assessments.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
