Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) has been growing rapidly to support customer demands. Those new cloud services have presented new challenges to networking for better flexibility, programmability and scalability. It is certainly an exciting area to fulfill your passion and show your impact. We are part of AWS EC2 core networking , and are responsible of distributing all customer VPC Control Plane data to Data Plane efficiently, including Amazon retail services which you do online shopping with.

If you are a Software Engineer with strong coding skills on Linux and enjoys network programming to power up distributed systems, then this is a great opportunity for you to exercise your skills and learn new technologies.

You will join an agile team of talented engineers who share passions for networking. You will be working on research and development in cutting edge networking virtualization and help us advance EC2 networking to power AWS cloud services for millions of customers.

You will work with technical leaders to refine our technical direction, and own design, implementation, and operation of one of the largest distributed systems in the world, the backbone which supports all AWS services. You will work closely with a tight, agile team that ships features continuously, and you will be able to see the impact of your work on real customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
