Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer, GFT, Corporate FP&A in Seattle, Washington

Key job responsibilities

  • Deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient business solutions by supporting all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, modeling & design, development, testing, deployment, integration, and documentation.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that accelerate cycle times, automate cumbersome manual processes, and ensure financial results are accurate.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities to drive innovation (such as introduction of advanced forecasting/machine learning capabilities into financial models to improve overall accuracy).

A day in the life

  • Work with PMT's to understand customer pain points and lead high level design decisions

  • Review designs and code to raise the quality bar for the team

  • Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to the team's technical strategy

About the team

Global Financial Technologies is looking for experienced software engineers with expertise in Python! Out team enjoys unique vantage point into everything happening within Amazon. As part of our team, you will be building highly scalable, fully-automated planning & reporting platform with thousands of Amazon FP&A users across the globe. The data flowing through our platform directly contributes to decision-making by our CEO and CFO, Board of Directors, and senior finance leadership across all of Amazon and its subsidiaries (Ring, Audible, Twitch, ShopBob, Digital Video, etc.)

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
