Google Staff Software Engineer, Machine Learning/Gen AI, Chrome in Seattle, Washington

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.

  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

  • 5 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g. TensorFlow), or applied ML (e.g., deep learning, natural language processing).

  • Experience in Python programming.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

  • Experience in using Google Colaboratory or similar interactive IDEs to disseminate and share research work in progress.

  • Ability to perform complex data analytics to drive business recommendations and decisions (e.g., Dremel, SQL, Python).

As a Staff Software Engineer on this team, you’ll play a key role in leading a growing engineering team with the opportunity to deliver a browser that is more capable, personalized, and helpful to its users. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with many teams across Chrome and Google, delivering a diverse set of features ranging from content creation, content consumption, commerce, productivity, search to delightful user interfaces. You will have the opportunity to lead other SWEs on complex problems from ML model development, steering ML infra development, to playing a key role in enabling many new features.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
