Amazon Systems & Data Specialist, DC Design Engineering in Seattle, Washington

Description

The purpose of this role is to oversee and perform quality assurance and quality control process mapping for the review, tracking, and management of design drawings, specifications and documents prepared during the engineering design process in order to ensure regulatory, legal, and security compliance. You will work alongside internal partner teams such as Engineering, Power and Cooling (PAC), Security, Controls, and Commissioning to build Data Centers that directly support our customers to resolve quality and process issues. You will also communicate with external stakeholder design consultants.

To be a successful Amazon Design Engineering Application Manager

The Applications Manager, need to have a positive attitude, knowledge of the commercial industry design and construction process, experience reviewing technical and contractual documentation, and strong communication skills. You will have experience creating solutions with Workapps, workflows, dashboards and reports and experience using BI tools (such as PowerBI, AWS QuickSight, Tableau, etc.) and have foundational understanding working with large structured and unstructured datasets. You will have experience developing solutions for Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) such as Procore, BIM360, or E-builder and experience with building solutions with Smartsheet, Microsoft PowerApps or Microsoft Sharepoint for large scale Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction organizations .

The Applications Manager manages the intake of design consultant documentation and data, review documentation for quality compliance and completeness, and update stakeholders with progress of the final workflow documentation processing. The applications manager will propose and develop new solutions to increase design efficiency and automate where possible.

The Applications Manager should expect high volumes for documentation, and will need to exercise strong judgement on how to communicate and engage stakeholders through various tools.

Effective May 15, 2017, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States)". This role will directly support GovCloud information and requires U.S. citizenship.

Key job responsibilities

  • Acting as system administrator on project critical systems.

  • Provides training initiatives for our internal and external partners, and provide tactical support.

  • Prepare ad hoc reports on project’s progress, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and progress tracking.

  • Manages and executes the vision and goals for the team. Independently works on process improvement initiative and new mechanism development and sees these to completion including among others: requirements gatherings, technical system development, UAT, implementation, training, user support and data analysis.

  • Develops, creates and maintains systemsfor reporting and tracking open issues.

  • Responsible for leading and driving process improvements (short-term wins) as well as process design / redesign (long-term wins) efforts

  • Manage the business metrics reporting process and support ad hoc reporting requests

  • Own design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, and support ad hoc reporting requests

  • Attend team meetings and communicate updates or requirements

  • Conduct audits to ensure processes are being followed

  • Analyzing, mining, and modeling data for Data Center Design Engineering documents and files.

  • Up to 25% travel may be required

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or architecture, or 2+ years’ experience as a project engineer for large commercial design and construction projects

2+ year of experience writing complex SQL queries and Python scripts.

2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with design and/or construction management software including Smartsheet, Salesforce, BIM360, SharePoint, Bluebeam, and Procore.

Knowledge of the scope and design/construction life cycle sequencing of project schedules. Organizational, analytical, and writing skills, to include solid experience in writing functional and technical specifications

Relevant workflow and drawing tools, such as Viso, Miro, and SmartSheet. Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.

Experience with data visualization using Quicksight, Tableau, PowerBI or similar tools and using API and SDKs to build script and and automation tools.

Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
