Job Summary:
This position is responsible for translating current trends and seasonal concepts into compelling prints and graphics for children’s apparel. The artist will be creating original artwork as well as working with studio artwork files and an extensive in-house print and graphic archive. This position requires working closely with other full-time artists in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, while still being able to focus and work nimbly, efficiently and independently.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
Create new and/or manipulate existing textile prints and graphics for apparel in various media within specific timelines
Prepare prints and graphics for production
Communicate with corporate partners, including overseas vendors and factories
Partner with other designers and Art Manager to ensure that the product is consistent with market trends while maintaining the brand identity and business strategy
Brainstorm new concepts for prints and graphics, being continually aware of current print and graphic trends and bringing newness to the product
Collaborate with design partners to ensure that artwork fits within the overall seasonal vision and concept
Collaborate with design and production partners to finalize scaling, placement, and appropriate graphic techniques
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in textile design, illustration, graphic design or related field
2 to 4 years of experience in design or graphic art for apparel
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with experience in Kaledo a plus
PLM experience a plus
Working knowledge of textile repeats
Working knowledge of apparel graphic techniques (foil, glitter, etc)
Experience in creating artwork for embroideries and embellishments a plus
Experience in children’s industry a plus
Ability to design around concepts using specific color palettes and within technical limitations
Ability to work efficiently and independently while functioning as part of a larger team
Must be able to multi-task and juggle multiple projects and timelines
