Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Utility Plant Operator 2 - Selinsgrove Center in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania

Selinsgrove Center, a division of the Department of Human Services (DHS), is seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to serve as shift leader in our power plant. This role involves managing plant operations, making important decisions about operational procedures, and identifying required repairs, all in accordance with established standards and emergency protocols. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Utility Plant Operator 2, your primary responsibility will be to maintain a continuous steam generation at the required pressure while adhering to safe operating practices. You can also expect to take and test water samples from boilers, softeners, return lines, and other related equipment. You may be required to adjust chemicals and record water readings daily. Another key component of your duties will be to clean the boilers and plant, adhering to maintenance checklists.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, rotating days, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work holidays and weekends.
  • Overtime and travel may be required as operationally necessary.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Special Requirements:

This position requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require medical examination.
