St. Luke's University Health Network Camp Counselor - Camp Crossroads in Sellersville, Pennsylvania

Camp Crossroads is a free transformational weekend camp, offered 4-6 times a year, for youth who have been impacted by substance abuse in their families.

All camp weekends are held at Camp Men-O-Lan in Quakertown.

While at the Camp, campers can expect:

A supportive, educational environment in which they can learn and grow together under the guidance of select mentors.

Traditional camp activities (such as a climbing wall, fishing, hiking, swimming, and more!) and therapeutic group activities (psychoeducation groups)

New friendships with other campers who have similar life experiences

A fun, memorable weekend!

The Camp Counselor will work as part of the camp therapeutic program team that oversees and actively engages with campers throughout the weekend. The Camp Counselor will work in partnership with the Practice Administrator and master’s level Clinician to support the day-to-day operations of the program, including groups, meals, lodging, transitions, and recreation. The Camp Counselor will manage and lead some therapeutic groups pertaining to the campers’ needs and ensure that the camp experience is a success.

The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.

  • Actively engage in all activities, being prepared to lead some, while championing program initiatives and camp mission.

  • Help assure smooth transitions from one part of the program to the next. Assisting in direction and supervision, set up and tear down of activities.

  • Act as a role model in all areas of camp, including cleanliness, punctuality, chores, rules and sportsmanship.

  • Actively participate as a team member in resolution of problems as they are identified.

  • Report to camp to provide adequate supervision (1:5 ratio) for the camp’s programming best practices.

  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

  • Demonstrates/models the Network’s PCRAFT values during interactions with all customers.

  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices

  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.

  • Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

  • All other duties as assigned to support camp.

EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completes and maintains current CPR/ First Aid training.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in working with individuals with mental health diagnosis or substance abuse disorder.
