Join us and let's Imagine a better way together. Position Summary: The Shipping Dispatcher dispatches drivers to ensure accurate on time delivery and pick up of all company materials. Shift: Monday - Friday, 5:30am - 2:00pm Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assist the shipping manager to achieve prescribed objectives and assist in the assurance of effective and efficient operation. Helps prepare materials for delivery of finished product as well as subouts. Monitor inbound and outbound jobs, proofs and other materials to ensure instructions are carried out in a timely fashion and dispatch drivers accordingly. Assist in training of new drivers. Assists in the prompt and accurate packing and shipping of orders. Assists with the maintenance of shipping records, customer files. Assists in shipping TL, LTL, UPS and FedEx shipments. Assists in preparing customers address files for use in UPS and FedEx systems. Assists in loading and unloading of trucks. Delivers and picks up product as needed. Audits all plant shipping invoices for accuracy of commodity classifications and rates. Helps maintain vehicles and records. Makes sure all work areas are kept clean, neat and orderly. Attends company meetings as requested where discussions relate to distribution and shipping. Works overtime as needed. Performs other duties as requested. Mandatory Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications: Good judgment and decision-making ability are necessary. Ability to anticipate problems and head them off. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary. Basic math skills and knowledge of computer operations. Ability to adapt to new techniques for handling work. Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Good knowledge of Twin Cities area. Front line supervision experience plus technical and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate positive safety attitude. Extensive knowledge of shipping procedures and requirements Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors. Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping. Manual dexterity for repetitive work. Frequent walking and standing.
