dsm-firmenich Environmental Improvement Projects Manager in Shanghai, China

Location – Shanghai office

Job model – Hybrid working with frequent travel (30%)

Part of a global team driving dsm-firmenich environmental agenda and supporting operations in the development and execution of their roadmaps, the Environmental Improvement Projects engineer holds a key role helping a region and its sites in developing Environmental competences, building and executing environmental roadmaps, providing expertise to develop projects from the roadmap.

Your key responsibilities

• Support development and execution of the environmental roadmaps (with a focus on water and wastewater roadmaps) for dsm-firmenich sites, and associated reporting process. The scope is covering all sites located in China. Sites in other regions may also be scope when needed.

• Define and execute feasibility studies and prepare preliminary designs, cost estimates and timelines. Studies can cover a wide range of processes and technologies. Bring project the extra-mile to support execution success;

• Support relevant site functions (operations, improve plant, maintenance) to identify water, wastewater and other environmental improvements (e.g. GHG / energy / waste) ;

• Build environmental competences and knowledge across BU’s and sites;

• Support the development and spreading of Best Practices and standards on environmental improvement and mostly water and wastewater improvement

• Support to safeguard SHE & Security, Sustainability and Operations requirements;

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication (with external partners, BUs, sites, experts, etc.);

• Three levels of communication and collaboration: to Group on overall program development and alignment, regional to the different site management teams on regional program alignment, and local to process engineers and other subject matter experts on project generation.

You bring

• Academic level: Technical University (Mechanical (process related)/Process Technology / Biotechnology / Environment)

• 5-10 years of proven experience in process engineering in a relevant business context, in which process improvement has been a considerable part of the work;

• Strong passion for and background in environment and sustainability improvements

• A solution oriented/ can do mindset;

• Good communication skills, both in writing and in speech, able to connect to various people and sites from different background and culture;

• Fluent in English;

• Knowledge of dsm-firmenich work processes (a.o. PMP, Large & Small Capital Projects, Operational, Technology Transfer, etc), experience with execution of technical projects and good knowledge of relevant production processes is considered a plus.
