UL, LLC Field Operations Manager A&I in Shanghai, China

Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of the staff in the region.

Delegate tasks and accountabilities.

Monitor and evaluate performance.

Develop and submit monthly key performance indicators related to audit travel cost, labor cost, utilization rate, profitability, etc.

Utilize this data to improve overall performance and profitability of the region.

Prepare and control operational budgets.

Work with the regional human resources management to hire, on-board and develop field staff and administrative staff.

  • Conduct performance reviews, salary adjustments, and personnel development in accordance with UL requirements.

  • Be responsible for executing any disciplinary action as needed.

  • Implement UL Performance Management requirements for staff under him/her.

  • Coordinate and monitor the work of the operations staff.

  • Monitor performance and implement improvements.

  • Ensure quality of deliverables.

  • Provide technical support where necessary.

  • Ensure staff receives necessary training and assistance to complete their responsibilities.

  • Work with technical services team to implement internal training and monitor the progress of audit staff.

  • Attend other meetings (on-line calls, etc.) as required.

  • Implement and communicate all quality system measures and programs as established by the quality system manager.

  • Benchmark effective operational practices and share effective practices with US management team.

  • Responsible for assisting client facing teams in providing actionable information for generating client leads, market research, and new business development as required.

  • Liaison with top management and assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity.

  • Implement and manage operational plans.

  • Duties other than the above but of a similar nature may from time to time be required.

  • The positions requires that the individual must be prepared to work outside the standard working hours when the duties so require.

  • The position will require travel

  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.

  • University degree in Business Administration, International Relations, or related field; plus, a minimum of five years work experience.

  • Technical experience in one or more categories: Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Dietary Supplements, Foods

  • Strong business and general management skills.

  • Ability to make decisions quickly and communicate effectively within a large and diverse organization is essential.

  • Excellent people skills, creativity and rational analysis skills.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Ability to adapt to challenging work environment in a constantly changing industry.

  • Aptitude and disposition amenable to constantly changing environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Self-starter, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to operate in a multicultural environment and to handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • Must be able to travel extensively, where necessary.

  • Willingness to work outside local time zones, as needed.
