Stanley Black and Decker Product Manager, Outdoor Asia in Shanghai, China

  • Build & Execute Strategic Plan for Asia Outdoor Business. Develop Annual Operating Plan aligned with Strategic Plan & Annual marketing plan, driving profitable share growth in key core categories across the Asia region.

  • Support the achievement of regional financial objectives (Sales, SGM, AGM & Operating Margin).

  • Manage market & competitive analysis and identify key trends for proper product & commercialization plans for the region.

  • Build strong commercialization programs, online and offline campaigns at region level to support country growth.

  • Accelerate legacy Outdoor brand integration into SBD overall Outdoor portfolios and processes & rhythms.

  • lead the New Product Development Process & Portfolio for Asia, and to deliver associated top & bottom-line results.

  • Represent the Asian region during the entire product development process (Mile Stone), which includes the ability to interact with a diverse group of teams, including Engineering, Branding-Graphics (GCX), Sourcing (GSM), Manufacturing, Legal, Finance & Supply Chain.Define NPD specifications, CTQs targets and market positioning.Identify, analyse and pursue new products trends and opportunities.Lead Financial analysis (ROC - Return On Capital) for NPDs in Asia.Actively participate in product-market mapping, competitive tracking analysis, and category/market evolution to adjust product development strategies if needed.Help developing SKUs creation and all marketing materials, including packaging, presentations, merchandising, and other collaterals to commercially launch new products.Define a clear 3-year NPI pipeline based on regional needs, global priorities, end user trends & branding strategies.

  • Work closely with the engineering team in USA, Suzhou, among other global teams, to deliver new ASIA-for-ASIA products & platforms, as well as revamped products that are currently available in the US or Europe. It includes products being specifically developed for emerging markets or Asia, as well as global ones.

  • Lead end-user research of New Product Development projects, and work with engineers to ensure successful translation of end-user insights to products/solutions. Conduct field tests for new product development projects, and provide solid results to the global product development teams.

  • Competitor analysis to map and determine products positioning and pricing.

  • Own relationship and activities with global SBU leaders, regional HQ, and country heads.

  • Manage product life cycle with global SBU leaders and country product managers in Asia.

  • Provide product road maps and products details to the regional Asian commercial team and to the several product managers in each country in Asia.

  • Support Quality issues & ensure effective resolution/improvements for the product portfolio (Core & NPIs). Reduce & eliminate product quality issues, and identify cost reduction & value improvement opportunities.

  • Cover white space product opportunities for the markets & partner with the Outdoor SBU to develop Demos.

  • Initiate relevant training programs with the training team making sure the content and flow is relevant and impactful.

  • Interact with Regional Supply Chain teams to support SOP process; forecast accuracy, fill rates, new products demand, low levels of E&O (Excess & Obsolete), costs, MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity).

  • Manage product life cycle with global SBU leaders and country commercial marketing managers in Asia.

  • Ensure effective Product Portfolio Management thru Complexity Reduction, Global SKU Rationalization (GSR), Brand Management and Value Pricing Management.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

(MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND KEY PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS)

  • Engineering Degree must. MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years related Product Marketing, Product Development experience.

  • End-user centric thinking. Understanding of user insights & consumer research to translate into solutions. Personal passion for Products, Application, and Technology.

  • A strong team player. Strong convincing skills. Expertise to manage cross cultural teams.

  • Acquaintance with Asia Region and cultural differences. Commercial / sales experience preferred. Digital marketing + ecommerce experience preferred.

  • Result driven & performance oriented. Ability to handle different projects simultaneously.

  • Analytical Thinker. Strategic mind set with the ability to problem-solving and solution oriented.

  • High energy level and highly motivated. Highly skilled in prioritization / can work in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Lead strategically and proactively by example with a hands-on approach.

  • Effective written & verbal communication in English. Computer proficiency Powerpoint/ Excel / PowerBi level.

  • Consumer Insights & Research experience is definitely a PLUS, though not must.

  • Must have the necessary leadership skills for future Senior Regional Role.

The position, in its individual contribution capacity, will closely work with Asia & Global Product Marketing teams, Engineering teams, local marketing teams, Service teams, Compliance team, SCM & GSM teams etc. to deliver annual operating plans.
