JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Franchise Operations and Openings is responsible for providing pre-opening and conversion support on operations for all franchise hotels in China. Support consists of training and technological tools to organize and facilitate an efficient execution of successful franchise hotel openings.
This position is to develop and deliver training programs to address and elevate franchisees’ operational effectiveness and S&M / revenue analysis skills, solid familiarity of Marriott brand standard to train them on what and how to leverage Marriott systems, tools, resources, to conduct Knowledge checks to ensure hotel operation standards after opening.
This person will work very closely with ownership, coordinating with the franchise opening team responsible for operation to ensure timely kickoff meetings and property inspections. Communicates inspection results formally with ownership for prompt follow-up and compliance by opening.
Provide proper support of these franchise hotels during the opening/re-opening allows Marriott International to protect the specific brand’s integrity while improving the value proposition for owners and franchisees to develop additional product. There is a strong correlation between owner and franchisee satisfaction and relative ramp up speed.
This position requires understanding the opening process of franchise hotels in China includes all the licenses and permits requirement, insurance compliance, Global Design working process, IT design operation process and Marriott systems that apply to China franchise hotels.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
• Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience
• 5-7 years progressive work experience in the hotel industry with focus in Rooms / F&B Operations or Sales & Marketing
• Requiring knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines as well as associate and/or organizational management experience.
Preferred
• Understand the opening process of franchise hotels in China including all the licenses and permits requirements.
• Understands the Global Design working process, IT design operation process and Marriott systems.
• Candidate that can speak both Putonghua and English in order to coordinate with local ownership on all opening process requirements.
• Strong communication skills and self-motivation.
• Franchise property GM experience is a plus.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• Leverages knowledge and experience in area of expertise:
o Identifies and implements pre-opening franchise project management
o Training program delivery
o Provides ongoing advice and guidance to the business concerning issues.
o Marriott Brand Standard upholding in franchise opening and operations.
• Manages multiple departments, processes and/or projects that have a broader function and/or discipline impact. Generally influences work of cross-functional or extended teams.
• Makes department/multi-department resource decisions within the scope authorized by direct report
• Conduct well-organized business trips to fulfill this position’s required business needs, including but not limited to
o Pre-opening franchise hotel project site visit
o Owner meetings and kickoff meetings
o Onsite training conduct and delivery as well as on line training.
o Participate / organize market activities and events, provide support if needed
• Build solid communication and partnership relations with ownership / franchisee of franchise hotels
• Business decks design and development with joint effort with franchise team and cooperating disciplines or departments
• Professional email generation and response in relation with this position’s business scope
