Job Title: Heavy Haul Truck Driver

Summary: Drive and coordinate the transport of construction equipment and materials between the shop and
various construction sites, handling both routine and complex transportation tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Operate tractor-trailer, flatbed, step deck, and lowboy trailers safely and according to applicable state
and federal transportation laws.
• Transport all equipment and materials in a safe and timely manner over the required route, obeying all
traffic laws and observing safety regulations.
• Familiarity with the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment for loading/unloading
operations and to perform self-loading tasks.
• Secure equipment and materials onto trucks and ensure state and federal guidelines for safe transport
and vehicle capabilities are met.
• Assist in the assembly/disassembly of large equipment (cranes, excavators, etc.).
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers to ensure the safe transportation of
equipment and materials.
• Complete DOT-required drivers logs and other documentation requirements in an accurate and timely
manner.
• Adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
• Maintain company vehicles and trailers, reporting damage or faulty equipment promptly.
• Communicates and reinforces the company vision, values, and goals.
• Performs additional assignments as directed by the Equipment Manager.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Current Class A CDL Driver’s License is required.
• Minimum 3 years’ commercial driving experience with a driving record deemed acceptable by the
company.
• Experience in hauling heavy equipment and materials, including lowboy hauling.
• Maintain all required certifications by DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.
• Knowledge of truck mechanics.
• Effective communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of DOT regulations, truck gross and axle weight regulations, and permit loads.
• Pass DOT physical and background and drug testing as required by federal/state requirements.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently independently.
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
