Fresh Roots Farm Agricultural Equipment Operators in Sharon, Vermont

All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 and 4, page 1. Workers are needed to plant, maintain and harvest various vegetable crops and greenhouse tomatoes. Workers must have a working knowledge of and ability to perform various tasks required in greenhouse tomato production, including harvesting, grading, suckering, lowering, clipping and thinning. Workers will perform field work including, planting, transplanting, weeding, thinning, hoeing and other tasks required in the planting, maintaining, and harvesting of various vegetable. Workers will sort, wash, pack and otherwise prepare various crops for storage and shipping. Workers will load and unload trucks and other farm vehicles, setup and operate various irrigation equipment, and cut brush and other vegetation in and around fields, buildings and equipment. Workers will operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers fields); and or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license, no worker will be rejected for not having a drivers license. Workers must be able to work in various extreme weather conditions from damp and cold spring and fall days to hot and humid summer days. Work is physically demanding requiring workers to stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers may require to work 9 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Tuesday and may require to work 10 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Wednesday, and may require to work 9 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Thursday through Saturday. Worker will be given at least 30 minutes for lunch. Daily beginning and ending times will vary depending on crop and other conditions. The employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform assigned duties. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English.
