4U Credit Union Member Support Specialist -FT (Sherman) in Sherman, Texas

POSITION PURPOSE:Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashier's checks, teller checks, and cash advances. Also responsible for performing a broad variety of financial services such as opening and closing accounts, renewing certificate accounts, and assisting members with bookkeeping and checking account problems. Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals. Answer member's questions regarding Credit Union services and products provided and performs a variety of account maintenance. Performs specific assigned side-jobs and assists other Tellers and Member Service Representative with a variety of duties as required. Cross sells services and performs related receptionist and secretarial functions as required. Attends to telephone inquiries and transactions for members. Issue debit cards and manages debit card disputes. Ensures members are promptly and professionally served

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  1. Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner. Ensuring the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.
  2. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers and member service representative. Also, all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller and member service representative area, including robbery procedures.
  3. Receives deposits and loan payments in person or by mail.
  4. Processes cash advances, cashier's checks, transfers, and similar transactions.
  5. Disburses cash or check withdrawals in person, by telephone, or by mail.
  6. Opens and closes teller drawer daily. Processes assigned cash and transactions and balances at end of day.
  7. Verifies transactions. Monitor's deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
  8. Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers, and reporting results to the inquiring party. Resolves member bookkeeping and checking account problems. Takes stop payment orders. 9. Presents and explains Credit Union services and products to members, including home banking, mobile banking, and stop payments, and assists in meeting their financial needs.
  9. Assist members in balancing their accounts. Resolves member requests and questions promptly, courteously, and professionally. Keeps members informed of Credit Union services and policies.
  10. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.
  11. Maintains privacy of member account information.
  12. Assists area personnel as required.
  13. Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
  14. Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
  15. Attends meetings as required
  16. Performs drive-up teller and night drop functions as assigned.
  17. Performs related clerical duties as required.
  18. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  19. Opens and closes accounts.
  20. Order and pin debit cards.
  21. Rent and close safe deposit boxes. (If branch applies)
  22. Assist members with accessing their safe deposit boxes. (If branch applies)
  23. Orders checks for member accounts.
  24. Renews and updates certificate accounts.
  25. Maintains and opens IRA accounts and answers questions regarding IRAs.
  26. Backup ACH and Share Drafts.
  27. Actively and professionally cross sells Credit Union services.
  28. Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  29. Performs research and exceptions as needed.
  30. Assists with debit card applications, processing and disputes as needed. ** PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

**1. Financial services functions are efficiently, effectively, and accurately performed in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedu es. 2. Drawer is balanced and any discrepancies promptly resolved. A balancing record that meets established standards is maintained. 3. Good business relations exist with members. Members' problems or questions are courteously and promptly resolved. Effective assistance is provided with member bookkeeping and checking account problems. 4. Good working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and with management. Appropriate assistance is provided to area staff as needed. Supervisors are appropriately informed of area activities. 5. Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely. 6. The Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained and conveyed.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school graduate or equivalent. *REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Teller and Member Service Representative policies and procedures. Good understanding of financial services, products provided and Credit Union operations. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One year or more of related banking experience is preferred. SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent communication and public relations skills. Professional appearance, dress, and attitude. Solid math and bookkeeping abilities Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment including adding machine, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, telephone and, 10- key. Good typing skills. *PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. *AVERAGE HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. *FINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. *REPETITIVE MOTION: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. *AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery. PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally. (almost all office jobs.
