Job Summary:

  • Transform our facilities by implementing ground-breaking technologies that improve safety and efficiency

  • Provide expertise, leadership, and project management to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives including modification and installation of equipment

  • Provide hands-on engineering support in the areas of electrical automation, controls, and robot programming

  • Automate various manufacturing processes

  • Develop manufacturing processes and integrate technologies into traditional business functions

Main Tasks/Responsibilities/Authorities:

  • Recommend automation and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that reduce cost and/or increase efficiency

  • Design, construct, integrate, install, successfully launch and continually improve manufacturing equipment and tools with a focus on automation, robotics, artificial intelligence

  • Project management including development of scope, definition of requirements, and creation of business cases

  • Plant floor support, programming, and implementation of machine controls including PLCs, HMIs, and robotics

  • Train users on new and existing programs and technologies

  • Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources

  • Update and maintain controls documentation and electrical schematics

  • Design and troubleshooting of electrical control systems

  • Certification, design, specification, and implementation of safety circuits

  • Conduct full functional and Factory Acceptance Testing

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:

  • Bachelor degree (or associate degree and 10 years of experience) in Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Computer, Controls, or Robotic Engineering or related fields

  • Experience including design and/or troubleshooting with electrical controls, industrial automation and/or robotics preferred

  • Experience in PLC and HMI programming. Experience with Allen-Bradley automation systems preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of artifical intelligence tools, and how to effecively utilize them to transform manual manufacturing processes

  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical concepts and equipment involving machine designs and process requirements

  • Knowledge of servo motors, motion control, vision, and drives

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems

  • Ability to use common controls and automation applications as well as learn new systems

  • Knowledge of coding/software programming of hardware/software integration for new technologies like Java/J2EE, C++, SQL

  • Proficient in 3D modeling software, experience with Creo preferred

  • Experience with lean manufacturing and analysis of manual processes towards the goal of automation

  • Experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
